Multiuser Detection for Random Access Bandwidth Request in WiMAX
نویسنده
چکیده
Random access is a multiple access communication protocol where the users simultaneously communicate with a base station (BS) in an uncoordinated fashion. In this work, we consider the problem of multiuser detection in a random access bandwidth request context. We propose an enhanced random access scheme where the fixed/low-mobility machineto-machine (M2M) devices pre-equalize their random access codes by using the estimated frequency response of the slowly time-varying wireless channel. Consequently, we develop a lowcomplex multiuser detection algorithm. The algorithm works in a greedy fashion where it performs cross-correlation of the received signal with a set of decoder sequences and detects active users based on the correlation output. We derive the condition under which the algorithm can detect a given number of active users with high probability. Subsequently, we demonstrate some efficient decoder design procedures which enhance the user detection performance. The performance of the proposed schemes is demonstrated in a WiMAX network environment.

IEEE 802.16e has received wide attention as it supports high data rates and incredible pervasive connectivity with high Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities. To support QoS, many Bandwidth REQuest (BW-REQ) mechanisms are suggested in the literature for resource reservation in mobile WiMAX networks. There are chances for performance degradation with increase in the number of requests. QoS can b...
متن کاملEfficiency-driven selection of bandwidth request mechanism in broadband wireless access networks
To avoid collisions in WiMAX networks, the connections in Subscriber Stations (SSs) use a request–grant process to acquire transmission resources from the Base Station (BS). In accordance with the IEEE 802.16 standard, the request–grant process is accomplished using either a unicast polling method or a contention request method. In WiMAX systems, the number of bandwidth-request (BR) slots per f...
متن کاملAn efficient Bandwidth Demand Estimation for Delay Reduction in IEEE 802.16j MMR WiMAX Networks
IEEE 802.16j MMR WiMAX networks allow the number of hops between the user and the MMR-BS to be more than two hops. The standard bandwidth request procedure in WiMAX network introduces much delay to the user data and acknowledgement of the TCP packet that affects the performance and throughput of the network. In this paper, we propose a new scheduling scheme to reduce the bandwidth request delay...

WiMAX [Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access] is the latest contender as a last mile solution for providing broadband wireless Internet access and is an IEEE 802.16 standard. In IEEE 802.16 MAC protocol, Bandwidth Request (BWR) is the mechanism by which the Subscriber Station (SS) communicates its need for uplink bandwidth allocation to the Base Station (BS). The performance of the sy...
